Producer & creator of Equal Standard — the man who gave M.Reck his first opportunity as an actor.
Taheim Bryan believed in M.Reck before the cameras ever rolled, casting him in Equal Standard and opening the door to a new chapter of his career on screen. Not long after the film's release, Taheim passed away — but the opportunity he gave, and the standard he set, are permanently woven into M.Reck's story and the MRECKTV brand.
On behalf of M.Reck and the entire DaReck Mobb, we honor Taheim's memory and make sure every fan who visits knows the name of the man who opened that door. Rest easy, Taheim — the standard you set lives on. 🕊️
A grassroots media legacy built one generation at a time.
Before YouTube was even a thought, M.Reck was out in the streets of Brooklyn, New York building what would become a media empire from the ground up. A true pioneer of street media, M.Reck's story starts in the golden era of street DVDs. As a key figure behind Gutta Muzic — one of the most respected street music and DVD platforms of the early 2000s — and with deep ties to Forbez DVD, M.Reck was capturing the raw, unfiltered energy of hip-hop culture before it was mainstream to do so. He put cameras in rooms that cameras weren't supposed to be in, building trust with artists like Drake, Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, The Game, Rick Ross, and 50 Cent. His partnership with the legendary Reggie Carroll (RIP) produced Knockout Kings of Comedy — a platform that showcased Black comedy talent at its finest. He also created Spooky Hours, one of the most compelling original shows in street media history. Most recently, his coverage and platform amplified the viral Katt Williams interview moment that had the entire culture locked in.
Before the algorithm, before YouTube subscribers — there were the streets. M.Reck emerges from Brooklyn as a key force behind Gutta Muzic, a street DVD and media operation that was capturing raw hip-hop culture in real time. This was grassroots media — duplication in the trunk, distribution on the block, truth on camera. M.Reck understood that the streets wanted to see themselves represented, and he delivered.
In the era when Smack DVD, Street Closer, and Block Entertainment were giving hip-hop its visual identity outside of BET, MRECKTV was in the mix. His connection to Forbez DVD and the wider street DVD ecosystem cemented his reputation as a media man who could get access — and more importantly, keep it real once he got in the room. Artists knew M.Reck wouldn't fold, wouldn't edit out the real, and would always protect the culture.
When YouTube opened the doors for independent content creators, M.Reck was already a step ahead. He transitioned his street media credibility and deep artist relationships directly to the platform — conducting exclusive interviews with some of the biggest names in hip-hop: Drake, Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, The Game, Rick Ross, 50 Cent, and more. The same authenticity that made Gutta Muzic credible made MRECKTV a destination.
Through years of being in the right rooms at the right times, MRECKTV's network grew to include relationships with key cultural figures including Scruncho — deepening his reach and his authenticity within the ecosystem of street culture and entertainment. Every connection earned through consistency, loyalty, and real ones recognizing real ones.
The collaboration between MRECKTV and the visionary Reggie Carroll produced something special: Knockout Kings of Comedy — a platform built to celebrate Black comedy and give the culture a place to laugh without apology. Reggie Carroll's vision, matched with M.Reck's platform and reach, created something that will live on. We honor his legacy every time we make the culture laugh. Long live Reggie Carroll.
Taheim Bryan — producer and creator of Equal Standard — gave M.Reck his first opportunity in front of the camera as an actor, opening a new chapter in M.Reck's career and trusting him with a role in the film. Taheim passed away not long after the film's release, but his vision and the door he opened remain part of M.Reck's history and the MRECKTV story to this day. Rest easy, Taheim — the standard you set lives on. 🕊️
When Katt Williams sat down and delivered what many consider the most iconic interview in recent entertainment history — calling out names, setting the record straight, and putting the industry on blast — the culture went into a frenzy. MRECKTV and Rip were among those amplifying, analyzing, and breaking down every word. The buzz that came off that interview confirmed what both of them had always known: the people want real content from people they trust.
